Mats and Jess’s Romantic Murwillumbah Wedding

Jess and Mats live in Brisbane, but as Jess’s parents own a stunning property in Murwillumbah, their decision on where to marry was an easy one. When I first met with them at the property, it was the middle of summer, very hot and very dry! But they were marrying in Autumn, my favourite time of year so I couldn’t wait to see their vision come to life.

Liale + Kirralee’s DIY Country Wedding-Casino

Liale and Kirralee’s stunning country wedding was held on a private property out towards Casino under an ancient fig tree. The most meaningful factor for these two lovers choosing to take the step into marriage together was so their beautiful big blended family had a safe and secure family unit they could all count on. Their ceremony was conducted in front of a rusty old tractor, with gorgeous native florals. Their five children were all part of the bridal party with their newest edition Adeena, arriving in a beaut vintage wicker pram!

Eric + Caroline’s Micro Wedding – Byron Bay Lighthouse

Caroline and Eric both fell in love with the Byron Shire on a trip to the region in 2018. So when Caroline said yes to Eric’s proposal they couldn’t think of a better place to say ‘I do’. When Caroline first enquired with me she told me they were looking for a Byron Bay Celebrant so they could marry later in the year. But there was a glitch, they both lived overseas in New Caledonia and asked if it was at all possible to complete the marriage paperwork electronically?

Charlotte + Al’s DIY Wedding – Byron Bay Surf Club

Al and Charlotte were married at the Byron Bay Surf Club in March. It rained in the days leading up to the event and Al arrived underneath a huge golf umbrella, but the rain stopped just before the bride, her best friend (who flew in from London for the lovefest!), two sons, and dog arrived. Charlotte swooned and twirled down the aisle to Lou Reed’s, A Perfect Day played by DJ Beaver, and the whole wedding party cheered, clapped and wolf-whistled her along – it was sensational.

Dominique + Scott’s Byron Bay Elopement – Wategos Beach

Dominique called me late one Friday afternoon in January, she was exuding excitement as she and her fiancé Scott, wanted to elope in Byron Bay in just 2 weeks time. Scott’s Mum was visiting from Europe and they wanted her to be witness to their marriage. There are rules to marriage one of them is the need to give the Notice of Intent to Marry document to a celebrant one month prior to the wedding date.

Damion + Michael’s DIY Wedding – Byron Bay Hinterland

Damion and Michael contacted me in October 2018 asking if I’d be interested in officiating their marriage at their farm in the Byron Bay Hinterland in Dorroughby with a handful of their closest family and friends as witness. When they told me they wanted to celebrate their love with a fun party, so needed a local Byron Bay Celebrant who loved a party and easy to work with – I jumped at the chance.

Not Quite 27 Dresses

The major thing I’ve learned, the five times I’ve taken on the important role of bridesmaid is, you have to accept whatever the bride and groom throw at you. If the bride wants you to wear a yellow taffeta fufu skirt with a purple polkadot bikini top, and a mariachi hat, then that my friend is exactly what you will wear – no matter what the season, it’s about them not you.
